Sad sight to behold
At least in their eyes
House not in order
In debt to seemingly everybody in town
Hyperbole perhaps
But I’m grateful to have one day
Every so often
To feel complete
And it bears repeating
It doesn’t have to be this way.

My hand out captured in stone
I should be giving instead of selfishly taking
And while the reasons are known
To be frozen in such a plight
It’s been a long road traveled
Just to see a flicker of light
It’s always fleeting
Sometimes I just wanna be selfish
And horde it all for myself.

I apologize for being a lecherous fool
For being called absolutely worthless
Is not out of question
Despite not being idle
Or of a lazy disposition
I’ve got nothing to show
For my arduous toil
Save for intangible satisfaction
While that can be positively spun
It doesn’t pay the bills
Take my advice
Don’t make promises
Out of some distorted belief
That you can buy someone else’s affection
Just to feel loved
For more than one grave
Will have to be dug.
