We were held captive by the Law,
Till the coming of faith revealed;
Punished and banished for each flaw,
Nothing allows us to be healed.

The Law was our defender,
Until faith in Christ justified;
To fight against the offender,
Confessing has been testified.

But since now that faith has arrived,
We’re no longer under its shield;
So, by faith we now have survived.
The past debts can now be repealed.

Through faith, you are children of God,
Since you have faith in Jesus Christ;
In return you honor and laud,
Because Jesus was sacrificed,

Many of you had been baptized,
Into Christ and putting Him on;
No more need to be circumcised,
The foreskin cut to be gone.

Because there is a Jew and Greek,
As well as a slave or as free;
That can go to the Lord to seek,
For you are all as one in He.

And if you are in Jesus Christ,
Then you are Abraham’s offspring;
Promised as heirs that has enticed,
What the inheritance will bring.
