What matters if we can't understand
That we cannot recall,
To heal and live in peace
That we might have it all.

Let the light pour through the windows
I take the time to read the ads,
I thrust aside the half truths
That should bring to me in scads.

Those of an independent mind,
Can't stop the cost of living
And a higher rank than that,
Is the service they were giving.

Years are coming and going,
Please turn off the lights,
Creeds may change and pass away,
I stay home at nights.
