I charge you before Jesus Christ,
Who will judge the living and dead;
For your sin He was sacrificed,
And ensured that you have been fed.

By appearing in His Kingdom,
Be ready to give a reason;
Understanding of His wisdom,
Your faith not committing treason.

Exhort with patience and teaching,
When people won’t bear the doctrine;
The Word of God in your preaching,
Because for lack of discipline.

But itching of their ears for lust,
Teachers to suit their own passion;
In the God’s Word no longer trust,
And no longer of their fashion.

They have turned away from the truth,
Wandering towards myths and fables;
And became vulgar and uncouth,
As God’s Word their thought disables.

So, always be sober-minded,
While enduring the afflictions;
Not letting yourself be blinded,
By all the earthly addictions.

Do work of an evangelist,
Make full proof of your ministry;
As a heavenly moralist,
Upholding Christian dignity.
