Only the heart, with love afire,
My books in studied order stand.
"These things shall be, these things shall be,"
Each ready willing, near at hand.

What friends they are, true, friends indeed
Like a pillar of stars against the night.
They only speak when there is need;
Millions on millions pray, so white, so white.

The shout of the people must come to me
Whenever I wish their joy to share
May I claim my part in the universe
They reveal their treausures rich and rare.

I bought it cheap for a-half-a dollar
And I may sail on fancy fair,
I bragged about it in the city
Yet I never left my easy chair.
