This is the message we have heard,
In proclaiming that God is light;
No darkness in Him or the Word,
Just the wisdom giving insight.

If we say we have fellowship,
We lie not practicing the truth;
In darkness a relationship,
Being arrogant and uncouth.

If we truly walk in the light,
We have fellowship with others;
The blood of Christ cleans with delight,
Loving your sisters and brothers.

If we say that we have no sin,
It’s ourselves we have deceived;
And the truth has not been within,
God’s wisdom cannot be perceived.

But if we’re willing to confess,
For God who is faithful and just;
Will cleanse us from unrighteousness,
Forgives when you have put your trust.

If we say that we have not sinned,
Then we have made Him a liar;
In Him we are not disciplined,
Live life in eternal fire.
