Do not overlook this one fact,
One day is as a thousand years;
The day of the Lord will impact,
His return as He reappears.

A thousand years is like one day,
As someone may count as slowness;
Remember to trust and obey,
He is not slow in His promise.

The Lord is patient unto you,
Not wishing no one would perish;
If penance is sincerely true,
Your confession He will cherish.

He’ll come like a thief in the night,
As Heaven will go with a roar;
Heavenly bodies will ignite,
The earth and its works as no more.

Since these things are to be dissolved,
What sort of people ought you be;
Lives of holiness be evolved,
Having a godliness to see.

Looking for the coming of the day,
Which Heaven is set on fire;
Heavenly bodies melt away,
With fervent heat to acquire.

But according to His promise,
We’ll see a new Heaven and earth;
Righteousness will dwell with justice,
All who are saved have a new birth.
