You have purified your soul,
Obedience to the truth;
Brotherly love in control,
With a pure heart since your youth.

Fervent love for each other,
Since you have been born again;
For your sister and brother,
With spiritual discipline.

Not of perishable seed,
But of imperishable;
Living and abiding need,
His Word is formidable.

For all flesh is like the grass,
Its glory like the flower;
It withers when you trespass,
As the fruit will turn sour.

But God’s Word is forever,
And His Word is the Good News;
Which is preached cannot sever,
The holy living you choose.
