We have come to know and believe,
Of the love that God has for us;
Whoever abides will receive,
Love abiding in God as thus.

By this our love made perfect,
And may have boldness in that day;
Trusted judgment not to reject,
That would cause us to disobey.

As He is so are we in here,
Because there is no fear in love;
Perfect love is casting out fear,
Fear is a punishment thereof.

We love because He first loved us,
To love God and hate your brother;
Then you’d be a liar as thus,
When not loving one another.

Loving not your brother you see,
Cannot love God who is unseen;
You must love both from His decree,
That is now and has ever been.
