Essential to the Faith

Christ proclaimed as raised from the dead,
How can some others never say;
No resurrection could be said,
Just rot in a grave to decay.

If there is no resurrection,
Then not even Christ has been raised;
And Heaven has no connection,
How then the Father could be praised.

For if Christ has not been risen,
Our preaching would be in vain;
All your sin keeps you in prison,
Your iniquities would remain.

We would bear false witness of God,
If the risen Lord is denied;
Our faith would also be a fraud,
The Holy Scriptures also lied.

Because if the dead would not rise,
Not even Christ would have been raised;
Your faith is vain full of lies,
Morally corrupt and depraved.

Those who fell asleep have perished,
But in Christ life is having hope;
Through faith eternally cherished,
This life we are able to cope.
