The Law and Sin

I find it to be a Law,
That when I want to do right;
Evil tries to cause a flaw,
For its personal delight.

For I delight in the rule,
For God in my inward man;
I want not to be a fool,
by going against His plan.

His Law is waging a war,
Against the law in my head;
A sinful law leaves a scar,
A captive that dwells instead.

O wretched man that I am,
Who will rescue me from death;
Only the blood of the Lamb,
Confessing will give new breath.

Thanks be to God through the Lord,
Though my flesh serves laws of sin;
My mind is in one accord,
With the Law of God deep within.
